Nissan might work with Maruti on their Indian venture
Renault has already launched their Logan car in India in collaboration with Mahindra and Mahindra group. Now, partner company Nissan is interested in making an entry.
Market sources claim that Nissan and Renault will crank out independent marketing strategies so that they do not end up confusing the end customer.
This could result in Nissan picking up a different local partner and that partner could be none other than the Maruti itself.
Maruti is the largest automaker in the Indian market. Carlos Ghosn spoke about Nissan’s entry into the Indian market: “Nissan will have a partner to market and sell its cars in India because there are a lot of advantages when you have a local partner to help you out. It can be M&M but not automatically so…it’s open. Renault and Nissan will have entirely separate marketing structures so that the Indian consumer does not get confused between the two brands.”
Maruti is already said to be working on a small car for Nissan, on a contract manufacturing basis. This car is expected to be launched in India and the European market.
