Isuzu acquires land for a plant in Alabama USA
Japan’s largest maker of light-duty trucks Isuzu Motors has reportedly acquired some land in the Alabama state in the United States.
This means that the company could resume vehicle production in the U.S. for the first time since 2002. USA is the world’s largest market for automobiles and a market this size cannot be ignored for long.
As per available reports, Isuzu has bought 540,000 square meters of land near Pinson, north of Birmingham. They had not announced any such plans in the recent past.
The company could build a plant at this location if sales in the region reach 50,000 units a year from about 33,000 units sold in 2006. With this they would be the third automaker from Japan after Honda and Toyota to have a plant in this state.
An entry into the US market would help Isuzu take on the rivals in their market DaimlerChrysler AG and Paccar Inc.
