Sanyo suffers a loss of 2.04 billion yen from battery recall
Japanese tech company Sanyo has revealed that they would be booking a loss of 2.04 billion yen in this year’s earnings as they are recalling mobile phone batteries suffering from problems.
Sanyo is the manufacturer of the batteries being recalled by NTT DoCoMo. Japan’s leading mobile service provider recently announced their decision to recall 1.3 million cellphone batteries as they were prone to overheating.
Sanyo is the world’s largest manufacturer of rechargeable batteries and have already forecasted a net loss of 50 billion yen on sales of 2.2 trillion yen.
The company further said that they see no need to revise its earnings estimates for the year ended March 31.
