Sony to sell TVs with organic electroluminescent screen

Japanese electronics giant Sony has announced that they would soon launch new television products based on a brand new technology.

The company would be launching an 11-inch TV with an organic electroluminescent screen by the year’s end. This technology is said to be yet another contender for next-generation flat-screen TVs.

Sony claims that they would be the first company in the market to launch TVs based on this new age technology. These television sets make use of the self-luminescent properties of some organic materials.

As a result, they consume less electricity and are more efficient. They are also thinner than conventional television sets.

Sony has also overtaken Sharp Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. to become the world’s biggest LCD TV maker by revenue and they now want to become the market leader in the OEL TV segment.
