Vonage in trouble… No workaround for Verizon’s patents
Vonage might be in big trouble. The company has admitted that they really could not find a “workaround” to get around the Verizon’s patented Internet phone technology.
The company added that even if they manage to find out a way, it could be totally impossible to implement them after looking at the expansiveness of Verizon’s patents in this tech area.
This information was revealed in a filing submitted to a federal court Friday and confirms the rumors that the company could find no way to step aside the patents they have been found to be violating.
The company has already been barred by the courts to take on new customers. They are also due to pay heavy fines for violating the patents owned by Verizon.
Vonage said in its statement: “Vonage currently has no workarounds that moot the need for a stay. While Vonage has studied methods for designing around the patents, removal of the allegedly infringing technology, if even feasible, could take many months to fully study and implement.”
The company added: “Current Vonage customers will not wait that long for restored service. Likewise, potential new customers will not even consider Vonage.”
