Big Bazaar Supercentres coming to a market near you
Kishore Biyani-promoted Future Group has announced that they are going to launch Big Bazaar Supercentres around the country.
They already have a retail presence in the Indian market in the form of Big Bazaar retail chain of stores. These new supercenters would be providing additional services like postal services, health and beauty zones and entertainment sections to the existing services.
Future Group is planning to establish six such centers in next two months. They would be investing Rs 96 crore on these new projects.
Big Bazaar Chief Executive Officer Rajan Malhotra spoke on these new plans: “We will come up with six Big Bazaar Supercentres by end of May-June. Each Supercentre involves an investment of Rs 15-16 crore. We will add a lot more categories to the Supercentres like postal services and health and beauty zones.”
These new centers are to be opened in Hyderabad, Baroda, Surat, Nagpur and Bangalore. Malhotra added: “By 2010, we would open 300 Big Bazaars across the country. We are doing a lot of experimentation and are in talks to add a lot more categories like opticals and food courts to Big Bazaars.”
