Chrysler Group opening two new plants in Michigan
Chrysler Group is due to announce their plans to establish two new factories in Michigan. This would be part of their planned $3-billion investment to develop more fuel efficient vehicles which are increasingly becoming popular in the US market.
Michigan state officials added that the company is going to invest in a new engine plant in Trenton, Michigan that will produce an upcoming family of V-6 engines.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation further said that they have now approved an eight-year tax credit of $11.2 million for the new Trenton engine plant.
Chrysler is also rumored to be planning to build a new axle factory in Marysville, Michigan. Chrysler has officially declined to reveal much on their investment plans.
Chrysler spokesman Mike Aberlich though said: “This is part of a $3 billion investment in powertrains. We want to move to more fuel-efficient vehicles and it all starts with powertrain.”
