Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced that they would be setting up budget hotels in cities like Howrah, Sealdah, Darjeeling, New Jalpaiguri, Gaya, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam and Tatanagar.
IRCTC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Railways and these budget hotels would be established though the private-public partnership (PPP) route.
They are planning to offer land around the railway stations in these cities for these hotels. The corporation said in its statement: “The entities will construct the hotel on a lease basis for 30 years following which, the lease may be renewed.”
IRCTC further said that they are also establishing single outlet fast food centers at Seoraphuli, Chandannagar, Bolpur, Srirampur, Rishra, Tarrakeshwar, Rampurhat, Bandel, Barrackpore, Ranaghat, Naihati, Krishnanagar and Ballygunj.
IRCTC added: For the 60-room budget hotel at Sealdah station, IRCTC has roped in GL Hotels and PAN India Paryatan Group. The Sealdah property is likely to be opened in the next one year for which IRCTC will receive a license fee of Rs 80 lakh and private parties will invest about Rs 6-7 crore.”
