.info domains to get expensive as well
Afilias Ltd. is responsible for running the .info domains and they have now announced that the wholesale rates for these domains would increase 2.5 percent on Oct. 15.
Interesting, .com and .net domains are set to get more expensive on the same day. Afilias revealed this information in a letter to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
Market sources said that the company was authorized to raise the prices by up to 10 percent a year. They decided to increase the rates by 15 cents, or 2.5 percent, to $6.15.
VeriSign Inc. had earlier this month announced their plans to increase the annual fee for .com domains by 7 percent to $6.42. The fee for .net domains is also being increased by 10 percent to $3.85.
.info domains are said to be the sixth most popular domains on the web. .com and .net are the most popular.
