Music CD sales continues to fall
Recording Industry Association of America has stated in their latest figures that the sales of compact discs fell around 13 percent in 2006.
RIAA further stated that the ever growing digital download sales have more or less failed to make up for the sales shortfall.
The report stated that the sales of music in digital format (like on stores like Apple iTunes) more than doubled in some cases during the year.
However, it was still not enough to cover the downfall in revenues from sales of Audio CDs.
RIAA added that the cumulative music sales were down by 6.2 percent to $11.51 billion.
RIAA said in its report that more than 615 million CDs were shipped to retail and specialty outlets in 2006.
The digital sales market saw 74.4 percent improvement to $878 million.
