Hewlett Packard continues to dominate Dell in terms of sales

Hewlett-Packard continued to lead Dell in the personal computer maker in the first quarter to remain the world’s largest PC maker.

IDC and Gartner have both came out with their latest statistical reports and HP leads in both of them. The company managed to overcome the challenge by the no. 2 player by about 4 percentage points.

IDC said in its report that the global PC shipments grew by 10.9 percent in the first quarter. Gartner in comparison reported a 9% growth.

Loren Loverde, director of IDC’s worldwide quarterly PC tracker added: “The strong first quarter is a good indicator of the health of the industry.” They are now expecting the double-digit growth to continue for the next two years.

Market experts added that HP gained momentum in the first quarter with strength in the retail and consumer segments. Dell in comparison is struggling with internal restructuring as they just recently launched AMD powered server products which are in high demand in the market.
