Google now acquires Marratech Video Conferencing Company
After Oracle, it seems like search engine giant Google is on an acquisition spree. In the recent months they have acquired the video sharing service YouTube. Just recently they acquired the online advertising company DoubleClick and the latest news in is that Google has now acquired Marratech Video Conferencing Company.
This deal is expected to help Google expand their presence in the collaborative work tools market. Marratech clarified that after the acquisition, they would continue to support its customers and resellers.
Google on their part said that the Marratech’s engineers will remain in Sweden and continue to develop the desktop conferencing software. The two companies did not reveal the financial aspects of their deal.
Marratech develops conferencing software which runs on several operating systems including Windows 2000 or XP, Mac OS X 10.4, or versions of Linux including Mandriva 10.2, SuSE 9.1 or Fedora Core 2. They also develop a server version of their conference software.
