Toyota Kirloskar upgrades Toyota Camry
Japanese auto giants Toyota have a presence in the Indian market through their collaboration Toyota Kirloskar Motors. The company is hoping to sell as many as 56,000 vehicles in 2006. With this, they are hoping to make a net profit this year after wiping out the cumulative losses.
Toyota Kirloskar has invested close to around Rs 2,400 crores in this unit and are hoping to sell 40% more vehicles this year compared to the last one. They have had a presence in the Indian market since 2000 and have sold very successful models like the Toyota Qualis and Toyota Innova.
The company is also involved in manufacturing of transmissions for parent company Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC). They are aiming to sell 160,000 units this year and earn revenue of Rs 400 crores through this division.
Toyota also launched the latest edition of their luxury car Camry, with a 2.4-liter petrol engine. It is priced in the range of Rs 20-22 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. They expect to sell around 1000 units of Toyota Camry this upcoming financial year. Toyota Kirloskar is also aiming to corner around 10% of the Indian auto market share in the coming years.
