AMD posts $611 Million loss

Microprocessor Company Advanced Micro Devices has come out with their latest quarterly report and the company has reported a first-quarter loss of $611 million.

AMD suffered as Intel made a splendid comeback taking away market share from them. AMD’s net loss was $1.11 a share. This is disappointing compared to profits of $185 million, or 38 cents a share AMD posted in the same period last year.

Intel has been pretty aggressive in the recent times and has launched some amazing new products which has resulted in AMD becoming more defensive. Market analysts believe that with Intel still scheduled to launch more products this year; AMD has some hard times ahead.

Doug Freedman at American Technology Research even went ahead and said that AMD is now suffered as they tried to become too big too soon. The disappointing figures resulted in AMD’s share taking a beating at the stock market.

AMD stated that their revenue figures included costs of $113 million related to their acquisition of ATI graphic card maker.
