Chrysler to launch Dodge vehicles in Chinese market
DaimlerChrysler might have expressed their desire to sell off their Chrysler division but the US based automaker is continuing to work on their plans to enhance sales in their worldwide markets.
Chrysler has now announced that they would be selling two Dodge vehicles in China. China is one of the fastest growing auto markets in the world and Chrysler wants a slice of this pie.
The company announced their plans to begin selling their Caravan minivan in China toward the end of this year. They also are planning to launch their Caliber small sport-utility vehicle in china starting next year.
They would be manufacturing these Caravan at Southeast Motor, a Chinese auto manufacturer in Fuzhou. The Dodge Calibers will be imported from Belvidere, Illinois.
Chrysler has been selling their cars outside the US market since quiet sometime. They sold about 207,000 vehicles outside of the United States last year. However just 10,000 of them were sold in the Chinese market.
