Bill Gates continues to remain the richest person on the planet

Chairman and Chief Software Architect of the world’s largest software company, Bill Gates continues to head the list of the richest people on the planet. As per the latest report released by the Forbes Magazine, Bill Gates’s net worth has risen to $50 billion.

This helps him to widen his lead from the second placed individual Warren Buffett. Gates has headed this list for an impressive last 12 years. Forbes presented the list with around 793 billionaires around the globe, with a total net worth of $2.6 trillion. This itself is up around 18% compared to last year.

Some of the new members on the list include Christy Walton, 51, in 17th place, with a fortune of $15.9 billion. She is the wife of John Walton, who died in a plane crash in 2005. John was the son of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. founder Sam Walton.

As many as 39 people are out of the list due to declining worth. Martha Stewart is one of the known figures on the list to have lost her position. Some Indian names on the list included:
