Toyota sells more cars than GM in the first quarter
Toyota is already on its way to dominate General Motors in the worldwide auto sales. The company has overtaken GM for the first time with sales in one whole quarter.
Toyota claims that they sold 2.348 million vehicles worldwide in the January-March quarter. This is more than the number of vehicles GM sold in the market in the same period. GM had reported sales of 2.26 million vehicles.
Considering, these figures are just for the first quarter of the current year, Toyota would need to keep the momentum going for the rest of the year to emerge as the world’s largest automaker.
Toyota was also very near to overcoming GM in sales last year. The difference in sales for the two companies stood at a mere 162,000 units.
Market analysts believe that Toyota has the potential to overcome GM within this year itself considering the US based automaker is struggling in their domestic market.
