Blinkx going public

Privately held video search provider Blinkx has announced their plans to go public next month. Market analysts claim that this is the sign that the online video service market has finally taken off.

The decision to take Blinkx public has been taken by the Autonomy Corp. PLC which would now be exercising an option over shares of the video search company.

They would be renaming the company Blinkx PLC and the shares of the company would be traded on the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market.

Autonomy further said that they want to separate its core business from the Blinkx business. The company said that this would help Blinkx to grow further and further expand its services.

News media group The Times reported that the company could have a market value of between $150 million and $500 million.
