Reliance launches Reliance Digital stores
Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Retail has launched their first consumer durables and IT (CDIT) product store named Reliance Digital.
The first in this series of new stores has been opened in the Shipra Mall in Ghaziabad near Delhi. Ajai Baijal, head of the CDIT spoke on their future plans: “We are targeting 150 such stores across 70 cities over a 3-4 year period.”
Reliance is planning to invest close to Rs 3-10 crore per store. The company added that their Reliance Digital stores would be based over a carpet area of 15,000 to 35,000 square feet.
They are offering as many as 150 brands at these stores.
Reliance is not the first big name to enter this segment. Tata group already has a presence in this space in collaboration with Australian major, Woolworths.
Reliance added that their Reliance Digital store would focus on delivering value to the customers. They are not going to be essentially discount stores.
