Royal Enfield to continue working alone in India
Royal Enfield happens to be the oldest surviving motorcycle marquee in the world and they are still doing well in the Indian market.
The company manufactures their Bullet range of motorbikes in the Indian market which are very popular amongst the youth in the country.
Enfield has said in a statement that they are not looking for any partnership to expand their presence. The company is focused on introducing a range of two-wheelers with new engines.
They are also planning to develop a new bike specifically for the export market. They are working with several vendors including the Keihin Fuel Systems and have developed new age technology in house.
Royal Enfield is already exporting 2,500 bikes a year to the UK and the US.
Siddhartha Lal, group chief executive officer of Eicher Motors added in a statement on their plans: “Up to 5% of the (motorcycle) market will be leisure-oriented. That’s the market we want to tap. Owning such a bike defines an attitude. The challenges are pricing and how you can create an aspiration.”
