Dell: Direct sales to customer not exactly a religion
Dell is currently the second largest personal computer maker and is struggling to compete against Hewlett Packard which overtook them sometime back.
The company is now headed by founder Michael Dell who has now said that the direct sales to customer method which made them a household name is not a religion and they are going to pursue other means to sell products.
Dell wrote in a memo to the company employees: “The direct model has been a revolution, but is not a religion. We will continue to improve our business model, and go beyond it, to give our customers what they really need.”
However, the company has not made it clear whether they plan to start opening retail stores to sell computers to their prospective customers.
The company basically sells their products via telephone calls or their website. They plan to stick to this method however despite noticing a slowdown in their sales.
