DaimlerChrysler considering launching buses and CVs in India
DaimlerChrysler is performing decently in the Indian market as they have registered a 17 per cent growth in sales of its luxury cars in the first three months of 2007.
The company has now said that they are considering entering the market for commercial vehicles and buses.
DaimlerChrysler said that they believe that India would become the next china for them in terms of growth and they plan to expand their presence in the Indian market.
DaimlerChrysler India’s MD and CEO Wilfried Aulbur added: “We clearly see India as an important part of our Asian strategy.”
They are already selling Mercedes cars in India and are considering options of establishing a second manufacturing plant to cater to the increasing demand in the market. Mercedes’ existing plant in India manufactures C, E and S Class vehicles.
DaimlerChrysler also launched its updated new generation Mercedes Benz ‘E Class’. They also launched a special series ‘E350’ edition of their Mercedes E-Class.
Aulbur had more to say about the Indian market: “We have been able to present our Indian customers with the new generation E-Class within 5 months of its global introduction in June 2006. This is in line with our commitment to offer our Indian customers the very best products and technologies from the Mercedes Benz stable, in the least possible time.”
