Bajaj Auto continues to post falling sales figure

Indian two wheeler industry giant Bajaj Auto continues to post disappointing sales figures. Their April sales have gone down too and this is the third straight decline in company’s monthly sales.

Bajaj sold 164,304 motorcycles in April. This is a 13% decline from a year earlier. Overall, Bajaj Auto sold 190,052 motorcycles, scooters and three-wheeled auto rickshaws in India and overseas last month. This is also down from figures of 212,123 a year earlier.

Bajaj as a result continues to trail Hero Honda in India which continues to lead the sales figures in the Indian market. Hero Honda also happens to be the largest bike seller in the world.

Bajaj is currently scheduled to introduce a new motorcycle in the second quarter of the current fiscal year. This product would be manufactured at their factory in Aurangabad.

The company also seems to be facing quality issues with their recently launched Pulsar 200 motorcycle. Owners of this bike are reporting issues with shockers and oil leakage. Mails sent to the company’s service department does not result in any response.

Update: Bajaj Pulsar 200 issues being fixed by Bajaj

    Hi,

I just bought the Pulsar 200. I booked this on 2 April and got delivery only after 28th April.

However this delay was not justified to me eitherways. Now after reading this and knowing the issues of the shocker and oil leakage, I want to know if bajaj fellows can be really aware about this? If they are not replying mails, that means they are on purpose trying to avoid such a critical matter. Is BAL taking any actions on this?

Regarding the falling sales dont start predicting much as of now, without complete knowledge.
As for your concern Bajaj sales are going down. It is only for the month of March, April, May and it iss not only for Bajaj evevn HH sales are down for this month. The reason why bajaj sales are down is nnot because people are not purchasing Pulsars, its because bajaj are sorting out inventory issues with their suppliers and this was supposed to get over by May end. And also lot of people are waiting for the Pulsar 220 and thats the reason why tthey are not going for P180 or P200 at the moment.
    So dont jump the gun.
And also i have booked P200 in blue, and all the issuesd have been ironed out.
Regarding bajaj service, its the best. If you have any trouble with the service station you can always mail to Bajaj in Pune and you will be surprised by the prompt service.
I am saying this with my experience with P150 dtsi.
I am completely satisfied with bajaj serviceing.

    Jeni,
Grow up, bajaj is on its way to be no. 1. and dont predict much about falling sales now as, The reason why bajaj sales are down is nnot because people are not purchasing Pulsars, its because bajaj are sorting out inventory issues with their suppliers and this was supposed to get over by May end. And also lot of people are waiting for the Pulsar 220 and thats the reason why tthey are not going for P180 or P200 at the moment.
    So dont jump the gun.
Pulsars are on par with any HH bike on quality level.
And apply brains jeni, Pulsars occupy almost 75% of the premium bike market share. So, you are bound to hear more complains from pulsars.
Out of 10 150 cc sold in India, 6 are Pulsar and 4 are either Unicorn, Apache, Xtreme.
    So start using logic

I got new Pulsor 200. Its been 2 months and more than 2500km usage. i did not face any problem like braking and oil leakage. applied brakes on 120kmph to 0 kmph with in 5 secs, no problem. its a perfect bike. may be few bikes are not good. defect in quality. but my bike and my experience is really good apparently. Hope i will not face any problem.

I think all these comments especially negative ones have to be ruled out cos right from the time DTSI came into picture things have been really good for Bajaj, admit it guys its a HIT BIKE not like others who despite changing a lot of things in their bikes could not really make up for the sales.

One more thing, U guys must have heard “ALL THE PEOPLE CANT BE FOOLED ALL THE TIME” I have had two Bajaj Pulsars (180 n now 200) I have not faced any problems as such till now my 200 has run over 4500kms n I think the incident abt the accident in Bangalore nead IIsc wat was quoted cant be believed completely, Use some logic n common sense guys any vehicle goin at 45kmph as stated there can it really have so much damage, Its always related to the force at which the person either bangs a bike r is banged by other vehicle. All hear say cant be believed. Some experiences of some individuals cant be a hard fast fact abt the reality. If BAJAJ REALLY SUCKS den why do u find them the most on the streets, today its a common mans bike too I mean every college goin guy r any guy who likes to own a nice bike goes for BAJAJ PULSAR.

despite the fact the bike being a 200CC I m getting a mileage of 42-44 kmpl this s a fact since the time I have been using this bike. I m happy abt it. Ultimately its individual experiences and guys even though they r bikes/machines “TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM” IT always pays back either in good performance n in good resale value its only a good customer can judge who knows how to really assess the quality of maintainance of a bike cos believe it r not when I sold my 180 I sold it for 42000/- despite the vehicle having run just 15000kms n almost 1yr 10m old. This s a fact.

Don go on hearsay try n test n verify urself with a little more common sense and good judgement thts the KEY.

I have used each and every model of pulsar right from round light to the digital model and i was a loving fan of this bike. But in 2008 i purchased a Hunk and i was surprised so much. After that i curse pulsar and realise its actually a shit. Indian people dont’t actually know what a real engine is?? Hero honda engines r the best engines. Even on high scales Honda’s engine’s r better that yamaha and suzuki. Hunk has a very sensitive RPM, even at 2-3 gear it gives a jerking pickup. One experience in bajaj i had was, its only new for the initial 6 months and later it shows its true colors. first gearbox and chainset goes down, then clutches no good for more than 6000 kms. One more thing is that i have a racing team and one common thing we have noticed is that pulsar’s performance degrades when its engine is hot. even in 200-220cc being oil cooles its performance degrades this is shown by 10kms less top speed and unwanted noise. On the other hand, Karizma without oil cooling never gets hot, even if, then no effect on performance. And even with such broad tubeless tires its not good at turns whereas hunk, cbz, karizma although having thin tires but very good on curves and sand, don’t know why??

One thing i wanna say is that, Bajaj gives the best features in its bikes like LCD, tubeless tires for 200, oil cooling, 2piece handle, etc. But Hero Honda is the best for its Engine and that makes a real bike.
