Nokia’s India facility to create thousands of jobs
World’s largest mobile phone maker Nokia has said that their upcoming manufacturing unit in India would create as many as 10,000 jobs. The company is establishing the Nokia Telecom Industry Park at Sriperumbudur and this is expected to bring in many more mobile companies to establish their base in this area.
The company currently employees around 1,100 people and will expand the number significantly. Nokia India expects to expand this base to around 2000 workers by the end of the current year.
More jobs would be created by two of the company’s component suppliers. And this number is expected to rise to more than 10,000 in the event of 8 to 10 suppliers setting up their operations in the park.
Nokia would be manufacturing fast moving products of low and medium range at this facility, which costed the company close to around USD 150 million.
