Nissan working on a USD 2500 car to take on Tata’s Rs. 1 lakh car

Nissan Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn has said in a statement that the company is indeed working on designing a $2,500 car.

They plan to take on Tata Motor’s upcoming Rs. 1 lakh car which is currently scheduled to be launched in the market sometime next year.

Ghosn said in a statement: “We are working on how we can make a car for $2,500. A Nissan advance engineering group is doing the study.”

Ghosn’s Renault has already launched their Logan Sedan in the Indian market which has been designed to be cost effective and practical.

Ghosn added in his statement: “In India one competitor has announced a car for next year at $2,500. I take that challenge very seriously. If you ask any car manufacturer if they can make money on a car that costs $2,500, the answer is always going to be no. Until somebody does it.”
