Flyington Freighters bypasses Boeing to sign a deal with Airbus

India based Flyington Freighters has announced that they are not going ahead with their previously announced deal with US based aircraft manufacturer Boeing.

They are instead going ahead with a deal with Airbus to launch their operations in the Indian market. T. Venkattram Reddy, chairman of Flyington Freighters said in a statement: “At this point in time, we are not going ahead with Boeing.”

The company would now be paying $175 million for each Airbus plane and they would get the first delivery of the plane in 2009.

Flyington Freighters had in July last year placed an order for four Boeing 777F cargo planes worth almost $1 billion at list prices.

Reddy added about that deal: “We were in preliminary talks with Boeing, but Airbus gave us a better deal.” For now, they are going to start their operations with two leased Airbus aircraft.
