Car exports from India down 9.5% last month
The automobile industry in India has reported that the automobile exports were down 9.5% last month.
This is a disappointing beginning to the new financial year as India tries to portray itself as the global hub for small car manufacturing.
Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) reported that the country saw exports of around 14,021 units compared to 15,497 units in the same month last year.
Both Maruti and Hyundai reported improvements in their export shipments. However Tata Motors reported a dip in their exports for the month of April this year.
Hyundai continues to dominate the charts with exports of 11,341 units last month. This is a 4.6% improvement compared to last year.
In the two wheeler segment, the bike market saw an improvement in the exports while the exports of scooters went down.
