Dell’s Indian plant to start working by the end of the year
World’s second largest personal computer maker Dell has revealed that their upcoming manufacturing unit in India would start working by the end of the current year.
Sameer Garde, general manager, sales, Dell India said in a statement: “Our manufacturing unit will be up and running by the end of this year.”
Dell is one of the bigger players in the Indian personal computer market and competes with Hewlett Packard which recently overtook them in the world market to become the largest PC maker.
Dell’s Indian plant would initially produce desktop computers that constitute almost 75 percent of the company’s India business and then progress onto making other products.
Garde added: “The company has recorded sales of over $500 million in India, which now forms one of the most important and challenging markets for Dell. India is an important market for us having huge opportunities. Today in India we are selling all the global products that we have in our portfolio.”
Dell has also launched their latest notebook products in the Indian market featuring the just launched Intel’s Centrino Pro platform.
