Cinemax expansion sees launch of Guwahati’s multiplex
Cinemax India Limited has inaugurated its 12th Multiplex Property in the country at Guwahati, Assam. The company has also tied up with a Mall Developer for a new 3-Screen Multiplex at Vashi, Navi Mumbai, with a capacity of over 900 seats.
One of the largest owners of multiplex properties in India, Cinemax plans to expand its operations on a pan India basis across 42 locations in 11 states, by the end of FY 2009E. It is already the largest owner of theatre properties in Mumbai, the entertainment hub of India, with 23 screens spread over 1,20,000 square feet area. With the commencement of operations at Guwahati, Cinemax will have seating capacity of more than 10,000, with 38 screens spread over 12 locations.
The Guwahati property is the first theatre of its kind in the state of Assam, and the first new theatre in Guwahati after more than two decades. The two-screen multiplex will offer patrons the luxurious ‘Cinemaxperience’, and we will open with the super hit movies ‘Spiderman 3’ and ’Good Boy Bad Boy’,” said Mr Rasesh B. Kanakia, Chairman, Cinemax India Limited.
The upcoming Mall in Navi Mumbai has also been awarded the ‘Best Upcoming Mall in Navi Mumbai’. Cinemax expects to commence commercial operation at this property by the end of 2007.
