Oracle acquiring Agile Software
Database industry giants Oracle has announced that they are now acquiring premier product lifecycle management solution provider Agile Software.
The deal is worth around $495 million and is expected to close in July. Charles Phillips, president of Oracle added that Agile will serve as the foundation of an Oracle PLM offering.
The company has around 1,250 PLM customers. This deal is just the latest of several acquisitions Oracle has made in the recent months.
The competition with SAP has resulted in Oracle making these acquisitions to expand their service offerings to stay at the top of their game.
Oracle has in the recent times acquired PeopleSoft and JD Edwards, to increase its scale and its customer base in addition to several small companies providing specialized services.
Phillips added that this deal would further boost their enterprise software applications.
