Geely to launch three new sedans in Indonesia
Chinese automaker Geely International Corp. is said to be working on plans to launch three sedan models in the Indonesian market.
The company is expected to launch sedans of three engine variants in its Indonesian debut and all of these products are expected to be priced below 100 million rupiah ( about 10,800 US dollars) in this market.
Market sources said that these sedans would feature engine capacities of 1,300 cc, 1,500 cc and 1,600 cc and the cars would be assembled locally by PT Gaya Motor, a wholly owned subsidiary of Indonesia’s largest auto firm PT Astra International.
These new products are likely to appear in the market by July this year in the Indonesian market.
Geely International president director George Zhao was quoted as saying about their interest in this market: “Why Indonesia? Because the industry here grows by the average of 10 percent a year.”
he added about the company’s long term goals: “With continued R and D activities, we are confident that we will be able to produce and sell 1 million units by 2010 and 2 million units by 2015.”
