Fiat reconsidering their joint venture with Nanjing Automobile Corp
Italian automaker Fiat has said that they missed out on the huge opportunity China had provided over the years and they are now reconsidering their joint venture with the local automaker Nanjing automobile corp.
Fiat has said that they are considering scrapping this venture to form an alliance with another automaker in the region.
Fiat’s Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne said in a statement that their current Chinese partner Nanjing Auto had been “distracted” by its efforts to relaunch the MG brand.
the company is now considering expanding one of its existing partnerships with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp or Chery Automobile.
Marchionne said: “I remain committed to working out the matter with Nanjing Auto, but if we don’t we’ll have to find an alternative. We have a relationship with SAIC and one with Chery on engines that could become a car alliance.”
