Nokia files their first patent counter-suit against Qualcomm
The legal battles between Nokia and Qualcomm continues as Nokia has now filed their first patent counter-suit against the mobile processor maker.
Nokia is now seeking damages and an injunction against Qualcomm through this fresh lawsuit. The company added that they have also responded to a previous lawsuit which Qualcomm filed against them.
Nokia further said that they are very much sure that their products are not infringing on patents owned by Qualcomm as they have claimed in their lawsuits.
The company has been facing 11 patent suits from Qualcomm related to their products. Qualcomm is seeking both damages and injunction.
Rick Simonson, Nokia Chief Financial Officer spoke on these new developments: “First and foremost, this is a counteraction. Since they are seeking injunction against us, we are doing this reciprocally. We believe very strongly Qualcomm has copied our implementation patents”
