CNN would now offer its live video feed for free online
CNN has good news for their fans as they are now going to stop charging for their online video service.
The news media company currently charges $25 a year for this service. CNN Spokeswoman Jennifer Martin said in a statement that this new change effective July 1, reflected lower costs associated with delivering bandwidth-intensive video.
She further added: “People don’t like to pay for stuff on the Internet. We’re not going to deny it, but we also had to make sure from a cost perspective that we got to the stage where it made sense to offer it for free.”
The company is considering generating revenues from this service by adding advertisements to it but that would happen at a later stage and not at the launch time.
Incidentally, CNN has also just won an award Thursday for best use of video among large news sites.
