BMW would source auto parts from India

German luxury car maker BMW has said in a statement that they are now going to source auto parts for their global operations from the Indian market.

BMW India plans to open its international purchasing office in New Delhi to cater to its worldwide ancillaries requirement.

BMW India President Peter Kronschnabl said on these plans: “We will be setting up an international purchasing office (IPO) which will be headed by an expat to take care of sourcing components for BMW’s global operations.”

They expect these operations to be in place by August this year. BMW India already has a purchase unit for its India operations at Chennai.

Kronschnabl added: “Once the sourcing team comes to India, they will study what kind of components to be sourced from here.”
