Indian government yet to receive Sahara-Jet Airways merger plan
The proposed merger plans of Sahara Airlines and Jet Airways are almost two months old and reportedly, the Indian government is yet to receive any proposal from the concerned parties! The government said in a statement in the Rajya Sabha that it has not received any formal proposal for merger of Sahara Airlines with Jet Airways.
This led to further protests from the Left members who asked the Minister to clarify on the matter. Dipankar Mukherjee (CPI-M) said in a statement that if the Chairman of Indian Airlines has sought allocation of the infrastructural support, how was the government ignorant about it.
Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel replied by saying that the government is yet to receive any reported merger proposal from the two parties Sahara Airlines and Jet Airways. He said: “We are not insensitive. We have read it in media. There is a possibility of such a situation. Therefore, the government will, in the best of international practice, try to come out with guidelines.”
