Cisco completes acquisition of WebEx Communications

US based telecom hardware manufacturer Cisco has announced that they have now completed the acquisition of WebEx Communications.

The deal was worth around $3.2 billion and with this Cisco has now made an entry into the online collaboration services business.

Cisco added in their statement that they would maintain WebEx’s current business model of selling subscriptions for a Web-based service to enterprises.

This service is specially designed for companies that don’t want to buy or build a collaboration system of their own. They are also going to target small and medium-size organizations.

Cisco would now operate WebEx Communications as a wholly owned subsidiary and they are going to retain all the employees.

This deal is also going to help Cisco compete better with rivals including the software industry giants Microsoft and other vendors.
