Bajaj Auto sales down in the month of May
Bajaj Auto continues to struggle as they posted lower sales in the month of May compared to the same period last year.
Bajaj’s bike sales were down 15% at 167,008 units as against 196,120 units. The total two-wheeler sales were down 15% to 169,327 units.
Their overall sales were down 13% to 193,437 units from 223,455 units in the same month a year earlier.
The company however said that their exports to international markets climbed 53% to 49,203 units from 32,179 units in May 2006.
Bajaj is struggling due to poor sales in the 100cc bracket which is dominated by Hero Honda in the market. Their sales in this segment were down 22%.
Incidentally, this segment of the bike market saw its market share shrank by 13.4% in May. Things should be better for the company in the coming months as they enhance their domination in the 125cc+ motorcycle segment.
