US based movie theatres asks permission to jam mobile phones
Movie theater owners in the united states are increasingly facing falling audiences as DVD and home theatre systems along with internet piracy has resulted in people watching movies sitting in their homes.
They are now considering asking federal authorities for permission to jam cell phone reception in movie halls to prevent annoyances to other people when someone keeps talking on the mobile phone while a movie show is on.
This is one of the many ways they are considering to lure back people to the joy of watching the movie on a large screen like they have done for many decades. John Fithian, president of the National Association of Theater Owners said in a statement: “I don’t know what’s going on with consumers that they have to talk on phones in the middle of theaters.”
They are already trying many ways to tell the audience that they should not use the mobile phones inside the theatre while a movie show is going on.
