British Airways to cut jobs in call centers
British Airways has said in a statement that they are planning to axe 400 jobs by shutting its high street travel agent business and a call centre. The airline company would now instead concentrate on providing flexible online booking facilities to their customers.
British Airways is the third largest European airline company and it has confirmed that they plan to close its Travel Shops business, which includes 17 high street shops and its Belfast customer call centre under a restructuring plan.
BA commercial director Martin George said in a statement: “Our high street travel shop business is forecast to make ever increasing losses in the years ahead despite continued efforts to reduce costs and improve revenue. We are therefore also proposing to close all 17 shops by the end of August.”
