General Motors to enter used car market in India
World’s largest automaker General Motors might enter the used car market in India through their Indian subsidiary.
If this happens, they would become the fourth car manufacturer to enter this area on its own. Maruti, Hyundai and Ford are already major players in this segment of the market.
Ankush Arora, vice-president (sales and aftersales) of GM India said in a statement on their plans: “The entry into the pre-owned business is now on the drawing board. A decision will be taken within the next three months. If the management okays the proposal, then GM will make a foray within calendar 2007.”
Arora added: “We now have a number of Chevy models within our fold. And, therefore, if we enter this business it will be aimed to achieve larger volumes.”
GM India has on offer models like Spark, Tavera, Optra, Aveo, Aveo U-VA and Optra SRV available in the Indian market.
