IBM acquiring Watchfire

US based tech industry giant IBM has announced that they are acquiring the Web app security vendor Watchfire.

The company develops software products to identify vulnerabilities in Web applications. They also make tools to audit sites for compliance with regulations on corporate governance, data privacy, or accessibility.

IBM added that they would merge this newly acquired company into their Rational division.

They would add their software products into their Rational’s software delivery tools.

The financial aspects of this deal have not been revealed to the media. IBM said that they expect to complete the acquisition by the third quarter of the year though it would require regulatory approval.
