Bajaj Auto cutting production as sales are down
Interest rates are increasing and this has led to decrease in sales of vehicles for several automakers in the Indian market.
Bajaj Auto is one of the affected manufacturers and the company has now said that they are cutting down production of their bikes.
Incidentally, rival bike manufacturers Hero Honda and TVS have said that their production is continuing as per regular plans.
Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj said in a statement that they are cutting cut down their production by 10 per cent from two lakh bikes per month to about 1,70,000 units a month.
Another company official added: “We anticipated the slow down in the off-season well in advance and accordingly put our production plans in place.”
TVS VP (Sales and Marketing) R Chandramouli is however optimistic about the market: “We have not cut production of two-wheelers which is at an average of 1.1 lakh to 1.2 lakh a month. However, a small adjustment is being made with more of scooters ’scooty’ being produced while scaling down bikes.”
