Nokia files a patent counter-suit against Qualcomm
World’s largest mobile phone maker Nokia has revealed that they have filed a patent counter-suit against Qualcomm Inc.
Nokia filed this latest lawsuit in a Texas court seeking damages and an injunction against the US based mobile chip maker.
Nokia has accused Qualcomm of infringing six implementation patents in its MediaFLO mobile TV technology and its Brew mobile data technology in this latest lawsuit.
Tero Ojanpera, Nokia’s chief technology officer said in a statement on this lawsuit: “We see Qualcomm has copied our technology without compensating us, so we need to enforce our technologies and patents we have.”
Things are bad between Nokia and Qualcomm. Qualcomm itself has mm has filed 11 patent suits against Nokia in less than two years.
Ojanpera added about their legal hassles with Qualcomm: “We will continue to negotiate in good faith and want to resolve this as fast as possible. I think it is in everybody’s interest to resolve this.”
