Blockbuster introduces a new online only DVD rental service
Blockbuster Inc. has launched a new online only DVD rental service. This service is available in the market at cheaper prices compared to a similar service currently being offered by Netflix.
The news resulted in Netflix prices taking a beating at the stock market as the market is set to see another price war in this segment.
Blockbuster has launched their unlimited three-DVDs-out-at-a-time plan at $16.99. This is around a dollar cheaper than a comparable service plan offered by Netflix.
Blockbuster further said that their lowest-priced Blockbuster By Mail plan will now start at $4.99 per month for two rentals per month. This package is similar in pricing to the package offered by Netflix.
The company added that their Blockbuster By Mail plan would enable the subscribers to cut the time between DVD deliveries by allowing them to return DVDs in stores.
