Online spending in US touched a record $2 billion last year
The web users in the United States are spending more and more online. This fact is proven by the fact that as per incoming reports from the Online Publishers Association, people in the US spent close to around USD 2 billion online last year.
However, most of these sales were reported for purchasing music and other digital content on the net. Apple iTunes can be credit for a major share of this online spending. The entertainment/lifestyle category has overtaken the market for personals/dating for online spending by customers in the country.
This industry is likely to get a major boost this year and the coming years considering several video stores have opened in the recent times inviting people to purchase video content on the net for download.
Google, Apple, AOL, and many other IT companies in US are beginning to offer video content for sale online. One of the major industries to have seen decline in the online revenues is the content-based sites considering a lot of free ad-supported alternatives are available online.
