UK government in talks with Ford over possible Jaguar, Land Rover deals
US based automaker Ford is said to have hired investment banks to explore options for their owned luxury brands Jaguar and Land Rover.
Ford could even consider selling these brands if they find a good enough offer. And this means that the UK government has to get involved in the talks to check out the possible impact on the jobs in these companies.
A spokesman for Prime Minister Tony Blair has confirmed in a statement that the UK government is in touch with Ford Motor over their plans for the two UK based auto companies.
The spokesman said in the statement: “We are in touch with the company. We still believe both Land Rover and Jaguar are highly successful companies and will have a highly successful future.”
