Sony hoping to gain from sales of digital cameras and television sets
Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony has said that they are hoping to gain this year from sales of their digital camera products and television sets.
The company said in a statement that they are seeing their electronics sales growth out pacing the industry in the current fiscal year.
Sony also stands to gain from the declining prices of the components used in the hardware products they manufacture.
The company is suffering major losses in their gaming division which has products like the Playstation 3 and Playstation Portable.
Stan Glasgow, president and chief operating officer of Sony’s electronics arm added in his statement that their electronics sales grew 7 percent in the fiscal year that ended in March.
He added: “We grew substantially greater (than the industry) last year, and we plan to grow substantially greater this year.”
