OMG! Formula 1 Race in India finally?
It would be hard to believe but Formula-1 is one of the most watched sporting event on the television sets in India.
Michael Schumacher might have retired by the Indian fan continues to cheer the new talents which keeps appearing on the horizon.
There is good news for the Indian Formula-1 fan as Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi has said in a statement that India has been made a conditional offer to stage a Formula One grand prix in 2009.
He said: “We have received a letter in this regard from Bernie Ecclestone, CEO of Formula One. The IOA will be the promoter and the first event will be held in 2009. Once we move ahead , a regular contract would be signed. We are planning to hold the race around New Delhi and we are looking to identify suitable land for a track.”
It might sound fascinating at the moment but organizing a Formula-1 Race in or around New Delhi? Seems like an impossible task. Especially considering they just have 2 years to prepare.
