Amazon unlikely to gain from sales of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Online retailing store Amazon has said in a statement that they are not likely to make profits from the sale of the highly anticipated book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Amazon has impressively already taken more than a million pre-orders for the final “Harry Potter” book.
The book is scheduled for launch next month. Chief Executive Jeff Bezos was talking at the company’s annual meeting when he said that the high discounts on the book means that they are not likely to make profits from its sales.
Amazon is offering a $17 discount off cover price, a free shipping offer and guaranteed on-time delivery. The aim is to prove their loyalty to their customers by ensuring that they get the best deal from Amazon.
Bezos claimed in his speech that the company sacrifices $600 million in shipping revenue each year by offering their famed $79-a-year Amazon Prime free shipping membership which is available in both USA and Japan.
